History
The seeds of GPA began in 2005, after Anne Petersen retired from the Kellogg Foundation as Senior Vice President for Programs. She wanted to continue to pursue her interest in global philanthropy, social entrepreneurship and youth development. In late 2006, Anne recruited two additional board members with international business and legal experience and philanthropic interests, Robert Judd and John Goff, as well as the chair of the Advisory Council, Collins Airhihenbuwa, a professor of Biobehavioral Health at Penn State. The organization received IRS determination as a tax exempt 501(c)3 organization in Spring 2007 (retroactive to our filing date of October 16, 2007,) and Erin Brandt was hired as Executive Director.
